Never cross a border with it

Taking cannabis into or out of Canada is illegal, even to or from places where it is legal. Buy here, finish it here.

30 grams in public

Adults can carry up to 30 g of dried cannabis (or equivalent) in public and share it with other adults.

Indoors means private

Smoking is banned in all enclosed public places, including bars, clubs and restaurants. Private homes and designated hotel rooms are the exceptions.

Edibles take time

Effects can take 30 minutes to 2 hours. Start low and wait before taking more. Legal edibles are capped at 10 mg THC per package.

No driving, no boating

Cannabis-impaired driving or boating is a criminal offence with roadside testing. Book a ride.

Licensed stores only

Buying from unlicensed sellers is illegal. Licensed products carry an excise stamp on the package.
